The Washington Outfitters & Guides Association is the only industry organization in Washington that represents outfitters, sport-fishing guides, horse and llama packers, white-water rafters, hunting guides, and other outdoor professionals who supply "outfitted services" to the recreational public in our state.
Outfitted services are those in which the outdoor professional furnishes the equipment, livestock, all necessary tackle or gear, and the expertise needed to provide an outstanding recreational experience to those who may engage his or her services in the outdoors.
Outfitters may be hunting guides who supply the horses, pack animals, and the camp for a prolonged big-game experience. The outfitter may furnish the same equipment to hikers seeking the challenge of Washington's back-country mountains, alpine lakes, or dedicated wilderness. Sport-fishing guides provide modern drift boats or jet sleds, state of-the-art tackle, lures or bait, and the intimate knowledge of the lake or river that helps insure the success of the outing. White-water guides, fly fishing experts, and light-treading llama packers offer exciting new ways to experience the magnificence of Washington's back-country.
Our association is dedicated to the protection of the priceless natural assets of the northwest and to the fair and equal access to our natural resources for everyone. For many people, the outfitted trip is the only practical means of enjoying the rich heritage and timeless beauty of Washington. Most of all, our members are committed to the highest possible quality of the outdoor adventure.
We are equally devoted to the concept of low impact on our wilderness...and to the wisest use of our fish, game, and wilderness reserves.
When you choose a professional outfitter to help you plan and enjoy your vacation adventure, you are gaining generations of experience and knowledge, unquestioned skill and dedication, and a remarkable opportunity to fully enjoy the tradition and excitement of Washington's unique wild resources.
When you choose to undertake an outfitted adventure, you are getting much more than a guide, a pack string, or a speedy jet boat. You are almost certainly insuring the success of your family expedition because you've decided to engage the services of an outdoor professional. By leaving the details and most of the day to-day work to the outfitter and his or her staff, you have time to relax and really enjoy your back-country vacation.
The success of any outdoor adventure is part planning, part proper equipment, part knowledge, and just a small part luck! When you pick an Association outfitter or guide for your excursion, you have lengthened the odds greatly for success.
Your WOGA guide will have the necessary equipment to make the trip comfortable and safe, the knowledge to plan your outing to fully meet your expectations, and the skill to make yours the finest possible experience. We encourage you to look over the many outstanding outfitters and guides in this directory, and then call one who offers the experience that interests you. Talk with them about your plans and tell them what you want and expect. We're certain you will find the person who can best accommodate you and who will provide exactly the kind of outdoor experience you have been dreaming about. Because our members represent the majority of longtime professional outfits in Washington and have demonstrated their skill and responsibility over the years, we are sure you will find just the kind of adventure your family wants.
Sport-fishing guides have learned the waters on which they work so well that their fishing Companions have the greatest chance for success on any particular day. Statistics indicate a catch rate many times greater for outfitted anglers compared with those who fish on their own. When steel-heading, for example, most anglers do not catch a fish. Most outfitted steel head anglers do!
